Sharing Islam well

"Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful counsel." · Quran 16:125

✓ Do

  • Let your character speak first; it is the sermon they actually attend
  • Listen twice as much as you talk; find the question under the question
  • Answer the size of the question: one warm sentence beats twelve links
  • Say "I don't know, let me find out" and then actually find out
  • Concede fair points; honesty is the whole brand
  • Feed people; hospitality converts atmospheres
  • Match their pace when interest appears; water the seed, don't flood it
  • Keep du'a running for people by name; hearts are turned from above
  • Leave every conversation warmer than you found it
  • Play the long game; decades are normal and no case is closed

✗ Don't

  • Don't debate to win; nobody is argued into love
  • Don't firehose one question with a library
  • Don't police anyone's lifestyle; you're a witness, not an inspector
  • Don't bluff answers you don't have
  • Don't insult what others hold sacred (Quran 6:108)
  • Don't perform dawah online for an audience that already agrees
  • Don't take rejection personally; Nuh preached 950 years
  • Don't make family meals a mission field; be the evidence instead
  • Don't chase the outcome; "your duty is only to convey clearly" (16:82)
  • Don't forget: they will remember how you made them feel, not what you proved

The one-line summary: you convey; Allah converts. Everything on this sheet is the footnotes.
